Btw, there was recently something in the newspapers in Pune, something really interesting, much more interesting than the stock markets performing its limbo or the evergreen topic of politics. That was the "Brangelina" story. No,this is not an Enid Blyton and I know u know what it is. The day they landed, the newspapers dedicated 2 n 1/2 pages to news of how efficient their security was, how no media could come anywhere close to them, etc. This has now boiled down to only half a page everyday. The local FM station even went on to interview an autowallah,in whose auto the star couple travelled, asking him whether he would keep as a memoir the 50 rupee note that they gave him (incidentally he had already spent it by the time this interview happened! And yeah, one more thing, he had not recognized the duo(what a grave mistake!!!) ) Wonder if its the same story when our people go out to shoot. But it does make an interesting read. And I have tried not to miss out a single article that's been printed ever since they landed.:)
Well, that was just a bit of thoughts again:D...Nothing much to share now...But hope to be back soon...Till then...

Now for those two great news items that got me landed up here. The first was the Priyadarshini Mattoo case (actually the idea started with the Jessica Lal case, strengthened with the anti-reservation protests and finally, solidified with this one). Isn’t it strange that in a country where the masses elect their leaders, who, in turn are responsible for selecting the people responsible for ensuring that justice is done, in such a country u still need the masses to come out on the streets to get justice. What then is the point of electing these leaders at all, if u still need to march out into the open as r elders did a century back. Well, I'm really not the first person who is asking this question, n I dont really believe myself to be the last, I'm just one of the crowd again, asking this question. Recently I was reading The Godfather, n cudnt really help admiring the precision with which requests for help and the consequent instructions filtered across the heirarchy. Couldn't the same be used here, of course, customized to suit the needs of a democracy, minus the bloodshed, keeping in mind everyone's interests, but still enforcing law with an iron hand....I'm still thinking...Are u?
If on one hand, v have the public (read that the youth of today, in the typical RDB style, no offence meant to anyone:)) coming out into the streets, on the other hand, v have the media that helps these protests and marches achieve their purpose. I only wonder at what happens to their excellent common-sense and business-sense at building up a hype at certain times. Some of u may have already guessed what's coming next. I'm talking of the "Prince" case, where every news channel was dedicated to capturing every breath that the little boy was taking. They did an amazing job of it, no doubt, each channel striving to out-do the other in giving every little detail of the small boy who was trapped. Kudos to our army personnel too, hats off to them, seriously. And nothing to say of the courage of the little boy who survived 50 odd hours down there. But going off on a tangent, 100s of people go down man-holes (and some even into covered and unused wells), some r rescued, others lost forever. But when have v ever even heard of such cases (except as maybe a small paragraph in the corner of a page of the newspaper), leave alone having every news channel dedicated to such rescue ops. Guess this was one instance where business-sense prevailed over common-sense. The topping on the cake came yesterday when news channels went back to the little boy's story, coz he was unwell, coz he is coughing and needs an X-ray and so on. Seen 'Phir bhi dil hai Hindustani"? Remember the hanging? See some similarity?...So now u can also think, if u wnt to that is...I'm doing so, n if I come up with anymore "insights", I'll get back here...So keep waiting and thinking:)...
